British author Sarah Tucker is an award winning travel journalist and broadcaster, dividing her time between England and France. This is her second novel for Red Dress Ink.From Booklist:
The sequel to The Last Year of Being Single (2003) revisits Sarah Giles seven years after her marriage to Paul O'Brian. Unfortunately, Sarah and Paul's marriage has not thrived, but despite the fact that it has been mostly sexless, Sarah still wants to try to make it work. After all, the couple shares a son, three-year-old Ben, and Sarah does still love Paul. But Paul has moved on-- into the arms of another woman. So with the help of a supportive group of friends, Sarah decides to sue Paul for divorce and finally cut the cord on her dying marriage. Readers will no doubt enjoy seeing how Sarah picks up the pieces and makes a new life for Ben and herself. Stilted dialogue and a few cardboard characters (like the villainous Paul or Sarah's interchangeable gal pals) detract from the novel, but overall it is a straightforward, involving look at the disintegration of a marriage. It's also particularly daring of Tucker to overturn even the dubious happily-ever-after ending of her first novel. Kristine Huntley
