It's time for a change -- of clothes!
Daffodil had two sisters,
and they all three looked alike.
People couldn't tell them apart.
When Daffodil and her sisters go to parties, Mommy puts them in fancy dresses of different colors so that people will know "who is who, and which is which." Violet's dress is violet, with lots of lace. Rose's dress is pink, with little bows all over. Lucky ducks. Poor Daffodil's dress is a horrible yellow, with weird fake pearls. She hates it "very extremely hugely much." One day Daffodil finally has enough - and when she rebels, she learns something surprising from her sisters.
This funny story about individuality is given a lively twist by Tomek Bogacki's colorful illustrations.

Daffodil and her two sisters, Violet and Rose, may look identical, but they are "very extremely hugely much" individuals with unique personalities and tastes. Unfortunately, their mother needs a wake-up call about her girls. She likes dressing the triplets in color-coded frocks when they go to parties: purple for Violet, pink for Rose, and yellow for Daffodil. But not just any kind of yellow. This yellow is "Sour, fake-cheerful yellow that reminded Daffodil of pee." It’s all well and good for Violet and Rose. Grownups offer them petits fours and hard candies as they twirl in their pretty dresses. But Daffodil just gets the "fake-cheerful" comments and jokes: "Let me see, you must be Sunflower. Or is it Forsythia? How about Marigold?..." It’s time for Daffodil to take matters in her own hands. Good-bye pee-yellow dress!
Author Emily Jenkins and illustrator Tomek Bogacki, who previously teamed up on the award-winning picture book Five Creatures, have created another charming tale, sure to please any child who has ever been treated like an anonymous doll. Daffodil is full of personality that even the unthinking adults can’t stifle. Bogacki’s soft, colorful, blurry illustrations are a perfect match for Jenkins’s funny story.
