Preschool--Despite Cabrera's broad brush-stroke illustrations, the large die-cut hole in the middle of each page, and the picture of the baby on the cover, this is not a book for very young children. As readers turn each page, there's another hairstyle displayed on this character's head, as older brother wonders what kind of hairdo his sister will have. Each possibility is explored until the last page when, at last, baby sports her own single blond curl. Hairdo? The target audience for this book hardly ever thinks about hairdos. They rarely give their locks a second thought. Toddlers and preschoolers may laugh at the silliness of it all, but the awkward rhymes and the lack of a plot and a premise that has any real significance for young children make this a questionable choice for picture-book shelves.
