Synopsis
While searching for food, a small brown mouse falls into a sewer...and the water sweeps him far away and finally washes him up on the banks of a river. A young girl finds him there, takes him home, feeds him, loves him, and gives him a lovely, cozy home in a parakeet cage. But when spring comes, the mouse longs to venture out in the beautiful world, and the girl learns a touching lesson about what love really means. Selected as one of the Children's Books of the Year by the Child Study Association of America.
