True Kelley has illustrated many books for children, including Stay! Keeper's Story by Lois Lowry. She lives with children's author Steven Lindblom and their daughter, Jada, in Warner, New Hampshire.
Grade 4-8-- Deem takes readers on many kinds of treasure hunts, identifying what to look for, where to look, laws governing the return of a find, and scouting techniques. The book is interesting, entertaining, and will make anyone who reads it want to learn more about the art of treasure hunting. Each chapter includes documented experiences. A list for further reading is included. Places where the author did his research and the resources he used are acknowledged. The only flaw is in the illustrations. Many of the children pictured on the cover and in the black-and-white cartoon drawings are very young. This will discourage older students from picking up an otherwise excellent and unusual manual. --Suzanne Lippencott, Nichols Library, Naperville, IL
