Grade 10-12-- A book that gives objective information about both heterosexual and homosexual relationships, masturbation, abortion, incest, and rape, but that falls short in several ways. Quotes from candid interviews with 18-to-25-year-olds are effectively used to introduce questions and to move from point to point within each chapter. Generally, the advice is practical and on-target, and the appended information could be useful. The authors' credentials are never provided, however, and sources and dates of information are rarely indicated. The chapter on birth control never mentions Norplant, although it is included in the appended table of methods; that table indicates the advantages, disadvantages, and both theoretical and actual effectiveness of the most popular forms but fails to reflect sources and dates of the facts and figures. The bibliography is limited and also has no dates. An appended list of places to seek help or information is incomplete. The table summarizing state regulations and restrictions on abortion is out of date, and there is no index.
