From School Library Journal:

Grade 4-8. In this second book in a series, three teenage sleuths?Christie, an athlete; Vicky, a clothes horse; and Maggie, a dreamer?investigate mysterious goings-on at an old inn on a remote island off the coast of Maine. The boarding-school roommates are spending their summer vacation working for Maggie's parents at the Blue Heron Inn. There they encounter a beautiful stranger and a reclusive old lady, and puzzle over a series of unusual events that frighten and drive away the hotel guests. In a climactic scene, Maggie's little brother disappears during a storm and a search of the island results in the discovery of a saboteur. Somehow all of these trite plot elements add up to a fresh, engaging story. Subplots explore mother-daughter relationships and a little romance. The shifting point of view may be a bit confusing at first, but it is an effective way to introduce all three members of Christie and Company. A solid read for mystery fans.?Rebecca O'Connell, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh

From Booklist:

Gr. 5^-8. Friends Maggie, Christie, and Vicky spend a month of the summer after eighth grade at Maggie's parents' inn on Little Bittern Island off the coast of Maine. The setting is idyllic, but strange pranks start the three young detectives wondering about a common cause. As the girls wait tables and get to know the guests, they puzzle over the seemingly unrelated but progressively more serious events designed to ensure the resort's demise. The situation reaches a climax during a storm on the Fourth of July when Maggie's younger brother disappears. Working together, the girls solve the mystery, and they patch up a few relationships along the way. Concern about clothes, hair, boyfriends, and mother-daughter relationships will make this lively sequel to Christie & Company (1996) a hit. Susan DeRonne
