From School Library Journal

Grade 9-10 While the format will lead readers to believe that this book is for elementary grade students, the vocabulary is more appropriate for junior high and up. Miller has done an adequate job of describing D-Day as best it can be described in 60 pages. The style is smooth, and the content is well organized. The major problems with this title appear to be editorial blunders. The maps do not relate well to the text. Terms are undefined, and important cities and rivers mentioned in the text are unmarked on the maps. The text is broken in mid-sentence by two-page spreads of photographs and a biography of Eisenhower. Some of the black-and-white U. S. Army photographs relate directly to the text while others do not. A few color photographs are also included. Miller's writing ability is lost amid the chaos in this book. A better choice on this topic is Marrin's Overlord: D-Day and the Invasion of Europe (Macmillan, 1982). Eldon Younce, Harper Elementary School, Kans.
