Blue boards with copper colored titles. Just a touch of shelf/edge wear. Copper colored topstain and vividly illustrated endpapers. All interior pages are clean and intact with some age-toning. No prior owner marks. Illustrated Dust Jacket shows moderate shelf/edge wear and rubbing with mild sun-fading to spine and a few small closed tears - now in mylar. It is noted that this book was a selection of the Junior Literary Guild whose editorial board included Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Set in Lapeer, Michigan, the story offers an endearing portrait of childhood and farm life during a bygone era - based on the childhood of the author's own father.
