This book deals with the problems and opportunities that arise at various stages of a career. There is a test to help the reader decide whether he or she is a candidate for the "fast track," the "steady path," or starting a business. Sherwood then describes various job levels and proposes different strategies for the fast-track worker and for the steady-path employee. (Potential entrepreneurs get one chapter; essentially this book is addressed to people who work for others.) There are additional pointers for women and for spouses, along with many well-chosen examples from the author's experience as a consultant. The terminology ("breakpoint forces," "breakpoint signals," etc.) is intrusive; otherwise, this is solid book containing useful advice, appropriate for large business collections.
