Grade 7-12 Following the death of her father, Abbey Reilly moves, with her family, from her rural upstate New York to Connecticut. While each member of the family copes with grief and struggles to adjust to the new life style, Abbey is having a particularly hard time. She is afraid of change, reluctant to grow up and terrified of competing in the real world of school, sports and dating. Her handsome, much-admired twin brother, Shel, tries hard to get her to break out of her grief and break into high-school life as a normal teenager, with some hilarious results. Mulford has created a wonderful picture of family life that is warm, supportive and fun and whose members really care about each other. The sharp, witty and realistic dialogue and episodes truly capture the adolescent experience. Janet Bryan, North Andover High School, Mass.
