Vehicle Dynamics: Theory and Application is written as a textbook for senior undergraduate and first year graduate students in mechanical engineering. It provides both fundamental and advanced topics on handling, ride, components, and behavior of vehicles. Coverage includes front, rear, and four wheel steering systems, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of different steering schemes. Individual sections devoted to handling, ride, and components will be beneficial to students as future automotive designers. This book includes a detailed review of practical design considerations and a number of practical examples and exercises.

Vehicle Dynamics: Theory and Application is appropriate for senior undergraduate and first year graduate students in mechanical engineering.
The contents in this book are presented at a theoretical-practical level. It explains vehicle dynamics concepts in detail, concentrating on their practical use. Related theorems and formal proofs are provided, as are real-life applications. Students, researchers and practicing engineers alike will appreciate the user-friendly presentation of a wealth of topics most notably steering, handling, ride, and related components.

Reza N. Jazar is an associate professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Manhattan College. His main research areas are nonlinear dynamics, robotics, control, and MEMs. He's written extensively on many diverse topics in applied mathematics and mechanical engineering. He is also the author of Theory of Applied Robotics: Kinematics, Dynamics and Control and regularly teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses in mechanical engineering.Review:
From the reviews:
"Vehicle Dynamics is primarily designed for academic coursework covering the dynamics of automobiles. ... can be used as a teaching tool, a manual for practitioners, a reference source, and a survey of the state of the art in vehicle dynamics. The book’s intended audience is seniors and beginning graduate students ... . This well-written and organized book is a useful addition to the literature and should be in academic libraries serving mechanical engineering programs. Summing Up: Recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through professionals." (A. M. Strauss, CHOICE, Vol. 45 (11), August, 2008)“Vehicle Dynamics: Theory and Applications is intended to provide the material for two successive courses in the area of vehicle dynamics at the senior year undergraduate and first year graduate levels. ... This textbook provides excellent advanced topics spread throughout the 15 chapters, which are clearly identified by the author with a star in the table of contents. ... an excellent textbook, which provides a modern, comprehensive, and modeling-oriented analysis of the traditional vehicle dynamics topic.” (Corina Sandu, Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, Vol. 33 (1), January- February, 2010)
