From the Publisher:

The endearingly loony The Trouble With... stories from Babette Cole have now been published in a new miniature format. As always, her vibrant, outrageously funny depictions will have kids—and parents—roaring with laughter. Winner of the prestigious Kurt Maschler Award, Babette Cole is the author of such favorites as The Hairy Book, The Slimy Book, Dr. Dog, Princess Smartypants, and The Bad Good Book of Manners.

Other titles in this series: The Trouble with Dad, The Trouble with Mum and The Trouble with Gran.

From School Library Journal:

PreSchool-Grade 2-- In this fourth zany picture book in her family sequence (Mom, Dad, and Gran have had "Trouble," too), Cole introduces Grandad, who has a talent for growing enormous vegetables. This activity, of course, leads to trouble: when he wins all of the prizes at a vegetable show, the other exhibitors become jealous. Grandad is then given a tomato plant that grows so big that he is arrested for growing a "dangerous vegetable." Ultimately, the giant tomato turns out to have a giant caterpillar inside, the caterpillar saves the town from some nasty-looking criminals, but destroys the police station, too. All ends well as Grandad replaces the police station with a giant cucumber, but the story closes with the intriguing threat of other huge garden pests. This plot, like those in many of Cole's books, is pure silliness of the sort that the four- and five-year-old set should love. The action is described without a wasted word. The full-color watercolor and ink illustrations flesh out the text and are innately humorous. The irreverent, contemporary tone is much like Tony Ross' work, although Cole lacks his harder edge and has a sweetness that Ross does not. This picture book is a good example of words and pictures working together to make a nicely-blended whole. --Lauralyn Persson, Wilmette Public Library, Ill.
