Synopsis
A collection of essays by experienced art therapists which discuss and develop the theoretical and practical issues central to art therapy. The authors describe how they work through the use of illustrated case material which includes children, adolescents and adults in schools, psychiatric hospitals, therapeutic communities and out-patient clinics. Theoretical considerations include bereavement, play, transference, symbolism and verbal versus non-verbal communication. The text expands on the issues raised in "Art as Therapy" and develops ideas for the theory and practice of art therapy with diverse client groups.

About the Author
Joy Schaverien is Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield, and a Jungian analyst in private practice in Leicestershire.
Diane Waller is Professor of Art Psychotherapy and Director of Programs in Group and Intercultural Therapy at Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK.
Caryl Sibbett is Lecturer in the Graduate School of Education, Queen's University, Belfast, Ireland, where she is Director of the M.Sc. Art Therapy course.
