About the Author:

Review:
"This provocative and lucid book will be of great interest to those concerned with psychoanalysis, religion, and gender studies."
-Diane Jonte-Pace, Santa Clara University, in "Religious Studies Review
"Benevenuto's is the first book on Lacan that is true to his clinical spirit, rather than his theory alone, which makes it the best book on Lacan, the book that is most real (in Lacan's sense, and in the more prosaic one). It is also very beautiful in its analysis of the passions, and the experience of love."
-Teresa Brennan, New School for Social Research
"This book unusually combines the theoretical and the clinical in a poetic style. Since the author's subjects are myth and psychoanalysis, such an approach is an effective one. I am much taken by the originality of her use of myth in relation to psychoanalysis and the freshness of her detailed discussions. I think her particular achievement is to have made the clinical poetic."
-Elizabeth Wright, Girton College, Cambridge
