The organization is excellent, and every chapter is solid and well written. A particularly useful touch is the listing of assessment instruments in table form, included in each of the chapters on specific applications. The tables together with the comprehensive coverage of issues and methods make this a reference we will all want to keep handy on the shelf. Many of the chapters cover a dizzying range of possible assessments, leaving the reader wanting more discussion of how to make choices between them or between types of assessment strategies. But it is not a bad thing for a book on such a topic as this to leave the reader interested, curious and wanting to learn more. Our search is now over, as this book does an excellent job of filling the gap. I would consider it required reading for all marriage and family therapy educators, as well as researchers and clinicians. Highly recommended..
