About the Author

Angus McIntosh BA (Econ) MPhil ARICS is head of Healey and Baker's Research Department providing general economic background material for the firm's clients and partners, as well as specific property research and property performance analysis. Previously he was the assistant Investment Surveyor for Provident Mutual Life Assurance Association and Senior Lecturer at the School of Surveying, Kingston Polytechnic, and Principal Lecturer in the Department of Surveying, Portsmouth Polytechnic. He is the joint author of a major textbook on property investment (published by Macmillans) Harris Martinos DipEng (Arch) DipTP MRTPI was Head of Planning and Economic Development, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, from 1976-1986 where he managed a wide range of urban programme projects. He has now formed his own consultancy and is directing a major EEC research programme on local employment development and carrying out an evaluation of the DOE Inner Cities Initiative and consultancy work for the OECD Chris Marsh ARICS MRTPI DipTP DipCP is Course Leader of the Urban Estate Management degree at PCL. Practical experience includes development work with a group of housing associations, local authority planner in development plan and development control, private practice and consultancy. He is the Senior Lecturer in Planning, and has particular interests in inner city initiatives and the negotiation of planning gain. He is currently doing research into planning gain and is registered for an MPhil/PhD Stuart Morley MA BSc ARICS DipTP is Acting Head of the School f Estate Management at PCL. Practical experience includes residential and investment agency, valuation, development and urban economic consultancy to the provate and public sectors. Teaching responsibilities include property investment, valuation and appraisal. Contributor to various books on the development and investment appraisal, office development and the future of the property market. Research interests include public/private sector development partnership agreements, local economic development, investment and development appraisal
