Telford is a Heinemann Raintree author.
Gr 2-4-Seashore moves from the dunes of a North Atlantic beach to the deep waters of the ocean. Each two-page spread is formatted so that the first page provides a basic overview and the facing page, set up to look like a travel journal, focuses on several specific plants and animals of the region. Arctic to Antarctica has the same format, but here children are taken below the impenetrable Arctic ice to Antarctica in an imaginary submersible. Solar System is slightly different in that the tour is given from a fictitious spaceship. Two pages are devoted to each planet, with right-side pages containing such information as distance from the sun, size, and length of a day and of a year, all furnished by the ship's databank. All three books have color photographs and illustrations. Young naturalists will definitely be attracted to these brief overviews.-Michele Snyder, Chappaqua Public Library, NY
