About the Author
John Malam studied Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Birmingham, after which he worked as an archaeologist at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum in Shropshire. He is now an author specialising in information books for children. John also writes a weekly children`s book review column for the Manchester Evening News. He lives in Cheshire with his wife, a book designer, and their two children.

Food identifies various types of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and dairy products and explains where they come from and how they help the body. Toys is similar in format, identifying the many kinds of toys and their uses and variations; e.g., textures are contrasted between a hard truck and a soft bear, jigsaw puzzles are shown in three levels of difficulty.
