Synopsis
This is the story of three black kingdoms, three of the many that once stretched across Africa from north to south, east to west-- the old, sixteenth-century kingdom of Congo, Dahomey, and Lesotho (Bastuoland). Only the last of the three now survives. Each is seen here at the critical point in its history, this being inevitably the period when it met white pressure head on-- reaction to such pressure was the determinant of survival.
