Reviews

Kindergarten-Grade 3-This story is based on the premise that an architect visits a class and teaches the children about shapes. The child narrator uses red and black Twizzlers handed out as a snack to illustrate the different forms-a circle, a square, a hexagon, etc., and some simple patterns. At the playground during recess, the students, pretending to be architects and construction workers, draw colorful triangles and squares with chalk. While readers will be attracted to this book because of the candy illustrations, it is simply another product-based title such as the author's The Hershey's Kisses Addition Book (Scholastic, 2001) and Barbara McGrath's The M&M's Brand Chocolate Candies Counting Book (Charlesbridge, 1994). Nothing makes it stand out from the crowd.
