Max, Antonio, Maia, and Jamie are back in this high-drama action novel starring the Black Belt Club! Filled with comic-book-like illustrations, this fast-paced adventure follows our heroes into a scary desert world controlled by the evil Hate Master, Heyoka. Together, these four karate students must overcome terrifying tarantulas, vampire bats, and the Hate Master, who feeds off their fear. Only when they discover the true meaning of friendship will the Black Belt Club, and the world, be safe once more.

Dawn Barnes is a third degree black and founder of Karate Kids, the most successful all-children's karate school in the United States. She has taught martial arts to children for nearly 20 years.
Now Barnes primarily oversees the curriculum at her four schools and teaches other instructors worldwide. She is the only children's martial art expert to be featured on the cover of Martial Arts Magazine. She also writes monthly columns for Martial Arts Magazine and L.A Parent
The Black Belt Club: Seven Wheels of Power is her first book. With action illustrations on every page, this book is the first in a series about the adventures of four karate students who must use their skills to save the world. Full of high-kicks, blocks, and intelligent problem solving, this series depicts children who try their best and never give up, no matter what happens.
Dawn Barnes lives in Los Angeles with her family and two dogs.
Grade 3-6–Young Max Greene is a member of a karate club for highly talented students. In this adventure, the BBC gang battles a large werewolflike monster of hate. Through working together, Max and his teammates find their true powers. While ambitious, this title fails to deliver. The mix of text, illustration, and comic panels proves too busy on many of the pages, and the story is pedestrian and schmaltzy. Changs illustrations are well done, though they are lost in this idiosyncratic format.–Jennifer Feigelman, Goshen Public Library and Historical Society, NY
