Created by a teacher, Bob Books have been helping children learn to read for more than forty years! This phonics-based box set helps developing readers gently take the next step toward more complex stories.
Bob Books Word Families helps children progress gently beyond the very basics of learning to read. The books use mostly short vowels and plenty of repetition, but also introduce a few consonant blends and word endings such as -ed, along with longer words and sentences. The use of word families makes these longer stories more manageable for early readers, and the silly content keeps kids coming back for more!
Inside the box you’ll find:
- 8 small, hilarious, easy-to-read books: 16 pages each, 25-42 unique words per book, sized perfectly for little hands
- 2 activity books to support the stories
- A parent guide with tips for helping your child learn to read
Each book includes:
- Word and sound repetition, which helps children decode the text
- Use of word families (mop, flop; big, bigger)
- Slightly longer sentences than previous sets (The frogs went under a log.)
- A "review before reading" section at the front of each book
- A word list at the back of each book
- Friendly, simple illustrations that add fun and do not distract from the words
