A wonderful story about realizing when it's time to grow up!
In this heartwarming story, Bean the bunny rabbit learns the importance of growing up. Bean has been carrying around her blanket her entire life but when her family gently suggests she might be big enough to stop taking it everywhere, Bean gets scared. She hides her blanket inside a tree stump to protect it, but when she goes back, it's gone! What will Bean do without it? With the support of her mother, father, and brother, Bean slowly discovers how to let go.

PreSchool-K–Floral-patterned endpapers greet readers in this gentle picture book about a bunny's loss of a well-loved security blanket. Though Bean is old enough to hop around Stickleback Pond, pick dandelions, and swing from trees, she cannot bear to be without her cozy Blankie. Concerned that her loving family might take it away, she devises a plan to keep it forever and places it in a secret hiding spot. However, things go awry when she cannot remember where she put it. Her reassuring, supportive family comforts her; even her brother lends her a teddy bear. Once she spends a few nights without her Blankie, she forgets about it. Eventually, the arrival of spring reveals what happened to the lost item, as a small fox is shown cuddling with it. While this topic is a common one in picture books, there is still a place for this charming story. Children will identify with Bean and be surprised by the heartwarming ending. Alternating between spreads and smaller vignettes, the enchanting, full-color artwork establishes the outdoor setting and creates personalities for the characters. An engaging story for one-on-one sharing or for storytimes about security objects.–Lynn K. Vanca, Akron-Summit County Public Library, Richfield, OH
