Synopsis
This atlas results from studies commissioned to harmonize the methodologies, codes, standards, and regulations used in European Community member states for the design, material selection, fabrication, and inspection of Fast Breeder Reactor components. Although the present work stems from the nuclear reactor safety field, it has practical significance in a wide area of applications. The use of the limit load as a basis for analysis is not limited to failure by plastic collapse alone; it is also applicable in situations where failure results from the interaction of several phenomena, e.g. when a cyclic thermal stress interacts with a mechanical loading and leads to ratchetting.
