Grade 7 Up Annie Powell returns from her Fantasy Summer (Putnam, 1984) as an intern at Image magazine in New York City to her senior year of high school in Boston. After an initial moment of disaster (she is not named editor of her high-school newspaper), her life seems to have become perfect. She has a wonderful part-time job with a small public relations firm; she has a wonderful new boyfriend; she is keeping up the friendships with the wonderful people she met at Image. But becoming 17 is not the same as becoming perfect, and Annie nearly loses everything she values to her own selfishness. Both the charactersher professor parents, her boyfriend Chris, her boss Murray, her assorted Image friendsand the situations are believable.
