Ten years after he tricked her into a false marriage, Lord Severn finds himself married once again--but legitimately--to Primula Greetwell. Reprint.

Imagine, if you will, an arrogant, whining, unfeeling young rake (our hero) who callously seduces by fake marriage a very young innocent (our heroine). Introduce an unpleasant, controlling, and manipulative parent who banishes our hero to India for ten years and then allows the rake to return only if he will wed whomever said parent commands. The bride is, of course, our heroine whom Papa has blackmailed into agreeing. Of course, she still loves our hero. Do our lovers recognize each other after ten years? Do we care? Throw in an unimaginative subplot, and the title is apt. The conceit of a villainous hero works only when he has an appealing character.
