Chisholm returned to the flight deck and settled into the jump seat. He sensed something unsettling. Suddenly, from behind the wing, he saw a solitary light rise on a tail of flame and smoke, accelerating on a curved path toward the C-141. At the same time, an excited voice came over the radio, "Someone just shot a missile at you!" Chisholm was grasping for ideas that might save the C-141.
