XX This fan magazine was issued in 1984, the year that the film and soundtrack of PURPLE RAIN were released, the year that catapulted Prince (Nelson Rogers) into the megastar status that he enjoyed for much of the rest of that decade. Multi-talented composer, lyricist, singer, dancer, choreographer, fashion-setter, and set designer, Prince gave unforgettable sold-out performances throughout the US and Europe. At the time, some critics attacked him for "dirty lyrics," but Prince was singing about wild sex and intense love, not about guns and violence.
