Synopsis
Richard Hannay’s boredom with London society is soon relieved when the resourceful engineer from South Africa is caught up in a web of secret codes, spies, and murder on the eve of World War One.
Richard meets a stranger who claims to know of a German spy-ring and an assassination plot. When the stranger is killed in his flat, Richard becomes the main suspect. Taking the stranger's journal, he runs to the wilds of his native Scotland to evade both the British authorities and the Germans.
Can he decode the journal in time to foil the assassination plot and clear his name? Or will Richard be caught by the police ... or worse ... captured by the German spy-ring?
