About the Author:

Robert B. Carey, Ph.D. is professor in the department of pathology and director of clinical microbiology at Loyola University Medical Center. A board certified medical microbiologist, Dr. Carey has extensive research and teaching experience.

Karin L. McGowan, Ph.D. is professor in the departments of pediatrics and microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and director of the laboratory of clinical microbiology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Mindy G. Schuster, M.D. is professor of medicine and infectious diseases at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
