Caroline Ravenall was flying high in Richard Branson's Virgin empire. Her reputation for getting things done led her to spearhead the launch of Virgin Atlantic Airways in South Africa. Behind her capable and confident exterior, however, she worried a lot. One day, overwork, anxiety, and stress resulted in her having a complete meltdown. The event was a major turning point in her life. Punctuated with a rich and diverse collection of lessons from mythology, fairy tales, and both sacred and secular texts, this is the story of her journey - her personal quest for identity, purpose, and spiritual meaning. Let it be your guide to a richer, fuller life as a warrior on the path of truth.

Caroline is former head of sales and marketing in Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic Airways in South Africa, turned leadership coach, mythologist and philosopher. She has over 20 years’ experience in working with a variety of organisations at leadership and board level in in the UK, South Africa and New Zealand in the field of leadership development and culture change. Inspired by her own personal search for meaning and purpose and disappointed by the inability of traditional psychologists and coaches to tackle the deeper aspects of our identity effectively, at the age of 35, she embarked on an intensive study of metaphysics, mythology and spiritual development from both ancient and modern systems of belief. It was an unexpected and vey untraditional journey – one that took her down a very difficult path. But it did however, allow her to emerge as a more authentic and courageous leader as a result. Today, Caroline is passionate about helping individuals and organisations reconnect with their spiritual values through leveraging the power of myth and storytelling in culture, leadership and life. The Hero’s journey is an archetypal pattern found in all walks of life, not just mythology. She asserts that one doesn’t have to check out of life and head to the nearest monastery or shed all their material possessions to enable them to embrace their inner mystic. She believes strongly that organisations are the new ‘Kingdoms of mythology’ providing us with unique opportunities to balance both our material and spiritual aspirations. She believes too, that the most successfully leaders in the 21st century will be spiritual leaders. Ones who are comfortable with their own spirituality, who know how to nurture the quality in others and strive to bring the mythological heroes spirit and entrepreneurial flair back into organisational life.
