In both content and design, MUSIC aims to meet the course challenges of cost, brevity, and relevance to students. Created through a "student-tested, faculty-approved" review process with hundreds of students and 200 faculty, MUSIC is an engaging and accessible solution to the diverse lifestyles of today's learners. MUSIC integrates classical works and vernacular music by introducing a broad range of styles and genres from the Middle Ages through the twenty-first century and the connections and contrasts between them. The result is a well-rounded view of musical life in each era. MUSIC is designed to meet the needs of instructors who want to give their students an inexpensive and brief text that has an appealing magazine style with short chapters that can easily be read in a sitting, as well as a strong technology component. The text is accompanied by an audio CD set, an interactive eBook, and a CourseMate website with streaming music, interactive listening guides, interactive demos of musical elements, interactive style comparisons, quizzing, flashcards, and more.

"I love it. I think it's a wonderful tool with which to empower instructors to supplement their course materials. This would be great for most academic music classes. I can easily see myself using this in Music Appreciation and many other music courses. I hope you are considering including this technology with other music subject texts that you offer." --Stephanie Furry, Georgia Southern University
"They are superior in terms of how they integrate some text content with musical examples. Great to have segments that can be accessed to demonstrate compositional features, themes, orchestration, etc." -Mark Zanter, Marshall University
"Yes, yes, yes! I use Active Listening Tools in World Music, but this system seems so much better. For this course, even better, and I especially like the segments feature and the handy access to glossary." -Kurt Gilman, Lamar University
"The more I see of this text, the better I like it in terms of potential effectiveness. I have already advised my colleagues of some of its content. When it is fully available, it will definitely be under consideration." -Kurt Gilman, Lamar University
"I am continually struck by the terrific writing in this text. I really enjoyed reading these and think they are excellent!" -Henrietta Neeley, Harper College
