"The Sellnow public speaking text is a student-centered tool for ethical, effective public speaking. It values effective construction of speeches and communication practices. I would recommend this text to any instructor looking for a way to make taking public speaking a great experience for students."
"The author's basic ideas are complemented with abundant, well-developed examples. One of the things I like about this text is the way that Sellnow illustrates important concepts by giving the reader well-developed examples from actual student speeches."
"I believe that Sellnow provides a more comprehensive approach to -- as she envisions -- the process of public speaking. Every chapter that I reviewed appears to address (in relevant, creative, and insightful ways) what other public speaking texts are currently missing."
"The emphasis on practical suggestions for dealing with speech anxiety throughout the text is definitely the greatest strength. Chapter 2 is very strong."
(The presentation of listening) is very direct, clear cut, ... arranged to specifically address the particular needs of students learning to listen to public communication. It is one of the best chapters I've read on listening.'
