Another Cinderella story. Ho-hum! But wait there now, partner. Don't be closing that cover too quickly. Yes, Trana Mae Simmon's latest is a fantasy western romance based on that children's fairy tale. Yes, the characters and plot are blatantly borrowed. But give it a chance. There's more here than meets the eye! Southern Charms packs a very powerful punch that you won't want to miss. Shane Morgan is on an errand for his mother. She believes that a young woman in Texas might be the long lost daughter of her best friend. There's a significant fortune waiting this little filly if she's the woman whose been missing for all these years. Shane doesn't really hold much hope for finding the missing heiress, but there might be a new business venture in it for him, so he begrudgingly leaves New York for the hotter climate of the South. Packing up all his insecurities and self-doubts, he heads to Texas. The woman Shane finds is not what he expects. With her flaxen hair and sparkling eyes, she certainly fits the look of a society debutante. Unfortunately, it's hard to picture this determined and intelligent vixen anywhere but on the plains of her beloved ranch...or stretched out in the shade next to a cool stream. Ellie Parker does not know what to make of Mr. Shane Morgan from New York City. She doesn't understand the attention he showers on her, and the warmth that spreads though her insides when he looks at her is totally confusing. Of course, there is also the addition of that fancy lady who claims to be her fairy godmother. The fact that the lady makes things appear and disappear with a wave of her hand is enough to cause Ellie to doubt her sanity. Then there's the wonderful food that she cooks. Who could doubt magic after eating those biscuits! Well, it's easy to see that the Cinderella-element is here. However, don't let it color your impression too much. Shane is much deeper and compelling than Prince Charming ever dreamed of being. And Ellie? She's a delightfully well-rounded and beautiful creature. If she could just get past those doubts and hurt feelings, everything would work out. And don't forget Fatima the fairy godmother and all the other wonderful little escapades that keep this story moving so quickly. Ms. Simmons has broken a fairly well-used mold with Southern Charms. Full of fun and a fair amount of passion, this story is a winner for a slow summer afternoon! Fun and fantastic! But much deeper emotionally than you would ever expect for a Cinderella fairy tale! Southern Charms will charm it's way into your heart! Trana Mae Simmons takes western love on a wild ride! Fairy godmothers and cowboys...yee-ha!
