Grade 4-6 This well written, attractive book gives the history of Israel from Biblical times to the present. It covers many subjects briefly but wellthere is a lot of information here. Israel's topography, climate, government, kibbutz life, culture, work, and holidays are among the subjects covered. Israel's cities, each with a character of its own, are described. The agricultural feats that have made the desert bloom are detailed. The color photographs on every page are of good to excellent quality. Ruth Shire, Mount Vernon Public Library, N.Y.
