Cesar Alegre is the author of several nonfiction books for children. From School Library Journal:
Grade 6-9–This volume has short (two to three pages) biographies of more than 200 people, from historical figures to those in present-day politics, entertainment, and sports. The writing is energetic, interesting, and without bias. For example, the early Spanish conquistadors are depicted as brave explorers and yet the atrocities they committed against the Native citizens of the lands they conquered are also explained. One slight fault is, in the example of Antonio Banderas, the lack of differentiation between Hispanic Americans and people of Hispanic background who work in the United States. Black-and-white photographs appear throughout. A good general reference source for reports.–Melissa Christy Buron, Epps Island Elementary, Houston, TX
