Susan Derkazarian is the author of several nonfiction books for children. From Booklist:
PreS-Gr. 2. This little book from the Rookie Read-About Health series approaches the sometimes-touchy subject of head lice in a straightforward, reassuring manner. Each double-page spread includes from one to five sentences of simple text on one side, facing a page with a clear color photo or two. On the spread comparing the size of a louse to that of "a small seed," the enlarged images give little idea of the creature's actual size. Only one of several magnified photos in the book is identified as "a close-up." Despite that, adults wanting to explain head lice to children will find this a helpful source of basic information on the transmission and treatment of a common childhood malady. Other recent additions to this useful series include books on the eyes, teeth, and bones. Carolyn Phelan
