Like so many books on wildlife, it ends with a discussion of threats to cheetahs' existence and their status as an endangered species. In this case, the outlook is dismal as the book notes that cheetahs are close to extinction and do not readily breed in captivity. Remarkably clear, often-dramatic color photos of cheetahs in the wild offer unusually good views of the animals. A glossary and short lists for books, organizations, and Web sites are appended.
