The Roman provinces of Gaul and Germany cover present-day France, Belgium, and the Rhineland, together with parts of Switzerland and the Netherlands. Distinguished by their rich Celtic and Germanic heritage, they formed an important part of the Roman Empire. In this first general book on the region in many years, Anthony King has interpreted the most recent research data available to reconstruct the Romanization of the provinces until its eventual decline. About the Author
Anthony King is Lecturer in Roman History and Archaeology at King Alfred's College, Winchester, and the author of The Archaeology of the Roman Empire. He has excavated on many sites in France, Italy, and Britain.
