About the Author

R. A. Foakes is Professor Emeritus at the Department of English, UCLA. His publications include six of Shakespeare's plays, among them A Midsummer Night's Dream for the New Cambridge Shakespeare series (1984), Illustrations of the English Stage 1580–1642 (Cambridge, 1985), and Hamlet versus Lear (Cambridge, 1993).
