Synopsis
This volume consists of diary extracts written by Collin Brooks, a Fleet Street journalist who rose to become editor of the Sunday Dispatch. Collin Brooks was an intimate friend of Lord Rothermere, and his journals therefore offer a unique insight into the operations and mentality of a press baron, as well as a perspective on the leading political issues of the day, such as India, rearmament and appeasement. These readable, witty and fluent journals, peppered with gossip, offer a unique snapshot of Britain in the 1930s.
