LARRY LEVIS has published five collections of poetry. His most recent books are Winter Stars (1985), and The Widening Spell of the Leaves (1991). His first collection of short stories, Black Freckles, will appear in 1992 from Peregrine Smith. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, among them a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1983, three fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Lamont Prize for Poetry in 1976, and a Fulbright Fellowship to Yugoslavia in 1988. The Dollmaker’s Ghost was selected by Stanley Kunitz as the winner of the Open Competition of the National Poetry Series in 1981. Currently Mr. Levis directs the Program in Creative Writing at the University of Utah.
