Ages 5^-7. Buster, a small white dog with a black patch over one eye, loves his life with Mr. Merriweather. One day, though, Mr. Merriweather gets taken away in an ambulance, and Buster feels confused and frightened--the same way he felt years earlier when he was abandoned by another family. Mr. Merriweather's grandchildren come to take Buster home with them, but he runs away, looking for his beloved friend and master. When the children find Buster, they comfort him, feed him treats, and take him home with them, where he lives happily ever after. The only reason this is a Christmas title at all is because on the last page, Mr. Merriweather comes to stay with his grandchildren, and the "special winter day" of his return is Christmas day.
