From School Library Journal:
PreS?Appealing, appropriately focused board books. In each title, a familiar creature is searching, or being sought. For what? By whom? Home or mom, naturally. For example, "I'm lost. Is this where I live?" inquires a chick. The text repeats this question on each page, and children are encouraged to lift the flap on unlikely spots such as a toy dump truck, a ball, and a flower pot. When the chick arrives at the coop, Mama replies, "Come on in, chick. Where have you been?" In the other titles, a kitten looks for a place to nap; and respective Mamas search for a puppy and a mouse; all following the same reassuring pattern. Clear, bright, colored-pencil illustrations carry the books. The primary and secondary colors support the simple focus of very young children. Softly rounded shapes everywhere comfort the mildest of tension in young searchers. Sturdy, well-constructed flaps cover each hiding place; access is easily provided by a hollowed-out half-circle. Babies and their parents will have fun with Kemp's timeless, durable, and charming quartet.?Jacqueline Elsner, Athens Regional Library, GA
