Reviews

From the author of A Kwanzaa Celebration (LJ 12/15/95) comes party planning tips, suggestions for celebrations ranging from a Jubilee Dinner Party for Emancipation Day to An Afrocentric Baby Shower, and appropriate menus. Medearis provides simple but useful tips for entertaining, along with interesting historical background on the various holidays. The recipes vary, from Kenyan Chicken with Coconut Milk to the more humdrum Broccoli-Parmesan Noodles. A serious drawback, however, is that not only do the menus not mention number of guests, but often the recipes within a particular menu don't "match" (e.g., the Christmas Pork Loin Roast serves eight, but the accompanying Sesame Asparagus and the Baked Onions each serve only six).
