Doris Orgel revitalizes the tale of Cupid and Psyche as a charming coming-of-age story, told mainly in the first person by 16-year-old Psyche. Writing for preteens and young adolescents, Ms. Orgel describes with honesty, grace, and diplomacy Psyche's experience of love and marriage to Venus' own son Cupid. Through the supernatural ordeals Psyche encounters as penance and education for her inability to remain innocent to her husband's identity, the depth of a young woman's heart is revealed.
