Dyslexia describes what this learning disorder involves, offers theories on causes, and discusses diagnosis and getting help. Unlike most of the books on this topic for this audience, there are no personal stories. Pete Sanders and Steve Myers's Dyslexia (Copper Beech, 2001) uses the story technique. Both of the Silversteins' titles are concise with large print. Unfamiliar words are in a bold font that differs from the rest of the text and may be difficult for some children to read. Sidebars provide additional information. The sharp, color illustrations are a combination of well-placed photos, cartoons, and diagrams.
