Grade 4-6-- A carefully designed and unified presentation. Five climate zones are introduced: tundra and alpine, woodland, chaparral, desert, and tropical and subtropical. Three or four flowers from each area are presented in full-page, full-color photographs and a facing page of information that includes the flower's size, family, where it is commonly found, a general description of the plant, and an explanation of its common or scientific name. The photos are clear and tie together stylistically even though they come from different sources. One drawback of the blossom close-ups is that leaves and the overall shape of the plants are not always shown. Useful for projects on flora or on climate zones.
