The wide, wide world of food;: Fascinating facts and folklore about man's progress in the art of eating
Born in Billings, Montana, in 1908, Charles W. Williams was graduated from Maui High School in Hawaii and received an A.B. from the University of California (Berkeley) in 1929.
He is now retired after forty-five years in the food industry. His food background came from almost a hall century working for the W.K. Kellogg Co., The H.J. Heinz Corp., The Haleakala Dairy Co., Polar Frosted Foods Co., and the Holly Sugar Corp.
During the Second World War he worked for the government heading food rationing in California and later had charge of all price and rationing boards in five western states.
He was a charter member of the San Mateo Wine and Food Society a chapter of this international organization devoted to gastronomical, research and enjoyment.
Mr. Williams has been a participating member of such civic organizations as the San Matco Development Association and San Mateo Chamber of Commerce, and a member of numerous grocers' and food associations. Since his retirement he has acted as a food consultant for various organizations and pursued his hobby of writing.
The author and his wife, the parents of four grown children now live in San Jose, California.
